The WCED WRB150B-030 Bi-Directional RCBO offers 50A B Curve protection with 30mA Type A high-immunity residual current detection and a 6kA breaking capacity. Its single-module 1P+N design features switched live and neutral, providing compact protection for suitable domestic, commercial and solar PV circuits.

WCED WRB150B-030 Bi-Directional RCBO

The WCED WRB150B-030 Bi-Directional RCBO is a 50A B Curve protective device from the Whitecliffe Electrical WRB1 range. Combining overload, short-circuit and residual current protection in one compact module, it features Type A high-immunity protection, 30mA residual current sensitivity and a 6kA breaking capacity.

With its higher 50A current rating, the WRB150B-030 extends the B Curve range for appropriately designed circuits requiring increased current capacity. Its bi-directional design also makes it an option for compatible solar photovoltaic installations, subject to the protective requirements of the system.

50A B Curve Protection for Higher-Current Circuits

The WRB150B-030 provides a 50A rated current with a B Curve tripping characteristic, offering protection for suitably designed circuits where relatively low inrush currents are expected.

Compared with lower-rated models in the WRB1 range, the 50A rating allows electricians to consider this device for circuits requiring increased current capacity, provided the cable size, installation conditions and protective device coordination are appropriate.

The integrated RCBO arrangement combines overcurrent and residual current protection, enabling an individual circuit to be protected without relying on a separate shared RCD for its normal residual current protection.

Bi-Directional Capability for Solar PV Applications

The WCED WRB150B-030 Bi-Directional RCBO belongs to the WRB1 family of protective devices designed for bi-directional operation.

This feature is particularly relevant to selected photovoltaic installations where electrical power may flow in either direction depending on generation and consumption conditions.

For solar PV applications, the installer must confirm compatibility with the inverter, circuit configuration, fault current characteristics and required residual current protection.

The manufacturer’s connection instructions and terminal markings must be followed. The existing WRB1 range datasheet specifies connection from the bottom.

Type A High-Immunity Residual Current Protection

The WCED WRB150B-030 Bi-Directional RCBO residual current protection, designed to detect sinusoidal AC and pulsating DC residual fault currents. This offers broader residual current detection than conventional Type AC protective devices.

The 30mA operating sensitivity provides additional protection against electric shock when correctly installed in accordance with applicable wiring regulations.

High-immunity protection is an established feature of the WCED WRB1 range, offering a practical option for electrical installations incorporating modern electronic equipment.

Switched Live and Neutral

The 1P+N arrangement incorporates switched live and neutral contacts, allowing both conductors of the protected circuit to be disconnected when the device operates.

This supports individual circuit isolation and can simplify certain inspection and insulation resistance testing procedures, subject to the selected testing method and connected equipment.

Compact Single-Module Installation

The WRB150B-030 Bi-Directional RCBO follows the compact single-module design of the WCED WRB1 range, helping conserve valuable space within compatible consumer units and distribution boards.

The WRB1 bi-connect terminal arrangement accommodates compatible cable, pin-type and fork/U-type busbar connections, providing flexibility when integrating protective devices into suitable electrical distribution equipment.
