Rako WK-PIR Wired 360° Ceiling PIR Sensor for CAT5/CAT6 Lighting Systems
The Rako WK-PIR is a wired, ceiling-mounted PIR presence sensor designed for automatic lighting control within Rako wired lighting systems. Using passive infrared movement detection, it sends commands through the Rako wired network to activate programmed lighting scenes according to occupancy, time schedules and daylight-related conditions.
The WK-PIR features a discreet recessed design and is supplied with a WK-CONNECT connection unit, allowing straightforward integration into a Rako CAT5/CAT6 wired installation. It is suitable for residential and commercial projects requiring automatic lighting control, presence detection or absence detection.

Automatic Presence Detection and Lighting Control
The Rako WK-PIR detects movement within its coverage area and communicates with compatible Rako lighting controllers to initiate programmed lighting commands.
Depending on the installation configuration, the sensor can automatically activate a lighting scene when movement is detected and switch lighting off after a specified period without activity.
Absence detection can also be configured, allowing lighting to be switched on manually while the PIR provides automatic switch-off after the room becomes unoccupied.
Three Programmable Operating Modes
The WK-PIR supports three operating modes to accommodate different lighting requirements:
- Always Mode: Movement-triggered lighting behaviour operates without time-based restrictions.
- Time Range Mode: Lighting behaviour can be controlled according to configured time periods.
- Sunlight Mode: Sensor operation can respond to daylight-related conditions configured within the system.
When configured through the WK-HUB in hub-managed mode, the sensor supports time-dependent automatic scene selection, allowing different lighting scenes to be activated at different times of day.
360° Ceiling Detection Coverage
The WK-PIR is designed for ceiling mounting, providing movement detection across the surrounding area.
Rako’s manufacturer coverage diagram illustrates an approximate 9m detection diameter when installed at a ceiling height of 2.5m. Actual detection performance depends on installation height, movement direction, room layout and environmental conditions.
Careful positioning is recommended to minimise unwanted triggering and obtain suitable detection coverage.
Wired Network Integration with WK-CONNECT
The WK-PIR connects to the Rako wired network through the supplied WK-CONNECT interface.
The sensor connects to the WK-CONNECT using an RJ11 cable, while CAT5/CAT6 network cabling is terminated onto the WK-CONNECT punch-down connector.
The WK-CONNECT provides the required connection between the sensor and the Rako wired communication network.
WK-CONNECT is included with the WK-PIR. There is no requirement to purchase the connection unit separately for a standard WK-PIR installation.

Installation and Commissioning
The Rako WK-PIR is designed for recessed ceiling installation. A ceiling opening of 48–51mm is required, and the sensor is held in place using integrated spring clips without visible fixing screws.
The included WK-CONNECT is wired into the Rako CAT5/CAT6 network using its punch-down terminals. The sensor is then connected to the WK-CONNECT using the RJ11 connection.
The WK-CONNECT termination settings must be configured according to the network topology and the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
The WK-PIR requires a Rako WK-HUB for programming and operation. Configuration is carried out through the hub’s web interface, including movement-triggered scenes, operating modes and absence detection settings.
Important Information
The WK-PIR is designed for Rako wired lighting systems and requires a WK-HUB to program and operate. It is not a standalone mains-powered PIR switch and cannot directly switch a 230V lighting load.
It receives its 15V DC supply from the Rako wired network and must not be connected directly to the mains.
For Rako wireless lighting installations, the RK-PIR is the corresponding battery-powered wireless ceiling presence sensor.
For additional wired connections or replacement connection accessories, the WK-CONNECT is also available separately.
