Rako WCM-D Wired 8-Input Contact Interface for Back Box Installation
The Rako WCM-D is a compact wired switch interface designed to connect conventional third-party wall switches and custom control plates to a Rako wired lighting control system. Supporting up to eight independent dry-contact inputs, it enables momentary or latching switches to operate compatible Rako lighting controls without requiring a standard Rako keypad.
Designed for installation inside a standard UK single-gang back box, the WCM-D provides a flexible solution for integrating decorative switches, bespoke wall plates and conventional control accessories into the Rako wired network.
Key Features – Rako WCM-D
- Eight independent dry-contact switch inputs
- Compatible with momentary and latching switches
- Supports third-party and bespoke wall switch plates
- Designed for Rako wired lighting control systems
- Fits inside a standard UK single-gang back box
- Minimum 35mm back box depth; 47mm recommended
- CAT5e/CAT6 connection to the Rako wired network
- Powered directly from the Rako wired network
- Configurable lighting scenes and switching functions
- Supports scene selection, toggle and push-dim control
- Configured using Rako RASOFT Pro software
Third-Party Switch Integration
The Rako WCM-D allows conventional decorative and custom-designed switches to be used instead of standard Rako wired keypads, including WCM, WK-EOS and WK-MOD control panels.
Up to eight individual single-way switch contacts can be connected to the interface, allowing each input to be assigned a suitable lighting control function within the Rako system.
This makes the WCM-D useful where a particular switch style or finish is required while retaining the functionality of the Rako wired lighting control system.
Programmable Lighting Control Functions
Depending on the connected switches and system programming, the WCM-D supports the following functions:
- Lighting scene selection
- Scene toggle operation
- Lighting level toggle
- Fade toggle (push dim)
- Room or channel raise and lower
- Whole-house lighting control commands
Control functions are configured using Rako RASOFT Pro software and must be appropriate for the connected switch type.

Installation and Wiring
The WCM-D is installed inside a suitable single-gang back box behind the selected third-party switch plate.
It connects to the Rako wired network through CAT5e or CAT6 cabling, while the external switches connect to the dedicated dry-contact input terminals.
Switch connection wires should be kept short, with a recommended maximum length of 300mm, to reduce the risk of electrical interference and unintended operation.
Network termination must be configured according to the Rako installation manual and the position of the interface within the wired network.
Important Information
The Rako WCM-D accepts volt-free switch contacts only. Do not connect 230V mains voltage directly to its switch inputs.
The WCM-D is an interface module and does not independently switch mains lighting loads. It requires a compatible Rako wired lighting control system and appropriate programming.
Third-party switches and decorative plates are sold separately.
