Timeguard TX1928EV EV Consumer Unit
The Timeguard TX1928EV EV Consumer Unit is a populated consumer unit designed specifically for electric vehicle charging circuits in domestic installations. It forms part of Timeguard’s EV circuit protection range and is suitable for new-build properties and upgrades where a dedicated EV supply is required. The unit is supplied factory assembled with a 100A double-pole main switch, a single-module Type 2 surge protection device (SPD) and a 40A 30mA Type A RCBO with C curve, supporting compliance with current wiring regulations and EV charger manufacturer requirements.
This EV consumer unit is configured to provide a dedicated protected circuit for EV charging, with the pre-fitted 40A Type A RCBO C curve offering combined overload, short-circuit and residual current protection. The use of a Type A RCBO makes the unit suitable for EV chargers that incorporate DC fault detection, in line with current installation guidance.
The 100A main switch is positioned on the left-hand side of the enclosure, following Timeguard’s standard layout and providing a familiar wiring orientation for installers.
Housed in a robust surface-mounted steel enclosure with a curved, lockable visor, the unit features large rectangular rear cable entries supplied with grommets, along with conduit entry points on the top, bottom and sides. A raised removable DIN rail allows cables to pass underneath, while the floating busbar with pre-fitted cover improves installation flexibility and safety. The enclosure is compliant with BS 7671:2018+A3:2024 wiring regulations and is rated IP2X for indoor use.
