Niglon supplies the original PCU1816M consumer unit with 16 free ways and a 100A main isolator. However, this particular Protego model is not offered as a standard factory-packaged version with an SPD included. Electrical4Less therefore combines the original consumer unit with a compatible Niglon single-module Type 2 SPD.
The surge protection device occupies one of the original 16 free ways, leaving 15 usable ways for outgoing circuit protection devices. This explains why Niglon’s manufacturer datasheet specifies 16 ways, while our Electrical4Less combination is advertised as a 15-way consumer unit.
The supplied SPD is intended for direct busbar connection in the specified configuration, without requiring a separate MCB for the surge protection device.
