The Live Electrical CB316C 3 Pole 16A C Curve 10kA MCB is a bi-directional miniature circuit breaker designed for suitable three-phase AC distribution systems. Rated at 16A with a 10kA breaking capacity, it provides overload and short-circuit protection for commercial and industrial installations where moderate starting currents may occur.
Features and applications
The CB316C features a C curve thermal-magnetic tripping characteristic, with instantaneous magnetic operation typically occurring between five and ten times its rated current. This offers greater tolerance of temporary inrush currents than a B curve MCB, making it suitable for appropriately designed circuits supplying small three-phase motors, inductive loads and equipment with moderate starting demands.
Its three-pole construction allows linked switching across all three phases, while the 54mm-wide housing occupies three standard DIN rail modules. The breaker mounts onto a 35mm DIN rail and is intended for installation within compatible low-voltage distribution equipment.
Operating at 230/400V AC, the CB316C offers IP20 protection and meets BS IEC/EN 60898 requirements. Correct circuit design should consider cable current-carrying capacity, prospective fault current, earth fault loop impedance and required disconnection times.
