SPD Surge Protection Devices

Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) help protect electrical installations against transient overvoltages caused by lightning activity and switching events. Shop Type 1, Type 2 and combined Type 1+2 SPDs for domestic, commercial and renewable-energy applications.

Surge Protective Devices for Electrical Installations

A surge protective device limits transient overvoltages and diverts surge current away from connected equipment. SPDs are used as part of a coordinated electrical protection strategy and may be required depending on the installation type, risk assessment and applicable BS 7671 requirements.

Type 1, Type 2 and Combined Type 1+2 SPDs

Type 1 SPDs are designed for locations where partial lightning current may need to be discharged, typically at the origin of installations where this level of protection is required. Type 2 SPDs are widely used to protect against switching surges and transient overvoltages associated with indirect lightning effects. Combined Type 1+2 devices provide both functions in one unit where appropriate.

Single-Phase, Three-Phase and Solar PV Surge Protection

The range includes surge protection for single-phase and three-phase AC installations, together with dedicated DC SPDs for solar PV systems. Orders Below £200 + VAT:
To keep costs manageable, we dispatch your order once all items are ready, including products with longer lead times.

Need items faster? You can pay for an additional delivery service to receive in-stock items sooner. Simply email us with your order details, and we’ll send you a payment link for the extra delivery cost.

Orders Above £200 + VAT:
For larger orders, we can split delivery at no extra cost. In-stock items will be sent immediately, with the remaining items dispatched once available.
