Earthing and Bonding: Proper earthing and bonding are essential for safety. This ensures that in the event of a fault, the fault current is safely directed away from people and property.
Surge Protection: Surge protection devices may be required to protect against voltage surges or lightning strikes, especially for sensitive electronic equipment.
Arc Fault Detection: In certain installations, arc fault detection devices may be used to detect and disconnect circuits in the presence of dangerous arc faults.
Circuit Isolation: BS 7671 also specifies requirements for circuit isolation devices such as switches and isolators.
Cable Sizing: The standard provides guidelines for selecting the correct cable size to ensure that the cables can safely carry the intended load without overheating.
Circuit Labels and Documentation: Proper labeling and documentation of circuits are important for maintenance and safety. BS 7671 outlines requirements for labeling and record-keeping.
