Rako RK-PIR Wireless Ceiling PIR Presence Sensor
The Rako RK-PIR is a battery-powered wireless ceiling-mounted presence sensor designed for automatic lighting control within Rako wireless systems. It detects movement and transmits Rako wireless commands to activate lighting scenes according to programmed occupancy and time conditions.
Featuring a discreet recessed design, flexible programming options and absence detection, the RK-PIR provides automated lighting control for residential and commercial installations. It communicates using Rako’s 433.9MHz wireless system and is supplied with an RK-BP battery pack.

Automatic Occupancy and Presence Detection
The Rako RK-PIR detects movement within its coverage area and communicates with compatible Rako lighting controllers to activate the programmed lighting response.
It can be configured to switch lighting on when movement is detected and send an off command after a programmed period of inactivity. Absence detection can also be configured where manual lighting activation is preferred.
Programmable Operating Modes
The RK-PIR supports three operating modes configured through the Rako system:
- Always Mode: Motion detection can operate without time-based restrictions.
- Time Range Mode: Lighting actions can be controlled according to configured time periods.
- Sunlight Mode: Sensor behaviour can be linked to daylight conditions.
Using Rako hub-managed programming, different lighting scenes can be selected according to the time of day, allowing more flexible automatic lighting control.

Rako System Compatibility and Programming
The RK-PIR is intended for use with compatible Rako wireless lighting control equipment. A compatible Rako hub is required for programming and sensor operation.
The sensor can be configured through the Rako system to manage lighting scenes, movement-triggered commands, timeout periods and absence detection.
Installation Requirements
The RK-PIR is designed for recessed ceiling installation. It requires a ceiling cutout of approximately 48–51mm and is secured using integrated spring clips without visible fixing screws.
The sensor connects to its supplied RK-BP battery pack using a two-pin connector. Only the specified AA lithium batteries should be used when replacement is required.
Installation position should be selected carefully to obtain suitable movement detection coverage while avoiding environmental conditions that may cause unwanted triggering.
Important Information
The Rako RK-PIR is a wireless presence sensor, not a standalone lighting switch. It requires compatible Rako lighting control equipment and appropriate system programming.
