Do I need an LED driver for strip lights?

Yes, most LED strip lights run on 12V or 24V DC, so you’ll need a suitable LED driver/power supply to convert from 230V mains. Match the driver voltage to the strip (12V strip = 12V driver, 24V strip = 24V driver) and size the driver with headroom (commonly 10–20% extra wattage) for reliable performance. Why use aluminium profiles with LED strip lights?

Aluminium profiles/channels protect the strip, improve the finish, and help manage heat (which can support longer LED life). They also allow you to add a diffuser for a cleaner light line — especially useful for kitchens, wardrobes, shelving and display lighting.

What’s the difference between 12V and 24V LED strip lights?
