Breaker Accessories for Circuit Protection Devices

Breaker accessories are modular add-on devices designed to enhance the functionality of circuit protection equipment such as miniature circuit breakers (MCB) and residual current devices (RCCB). These accessories enable additional control, signalling and safety functions within electrical installations.

Installed directly onto compatible breakers, these modules allow circuit protection systems to integrate with control circuits, monitoring equipment and safety shutdown systems.

Types of Breaker Accessories

  • Shunt Trips – allow remote tripping of a breaker through an external control signal.
  • Undervoltage Releases – automatically trip the breaker when supply voltage drops or fails.
  • Auxiliary Contacts – provide status indication showing whether the breaker is open or closed.
  • Alarm Contacts – signal when a breaker has tripped due to a fault condition.

Applications

Breaker accessories are widely used in electrical distribution systems where circuit protection devices must interact with external control or monitoring systems.

  • Industrial control panels
  • Emergency shutdown systems
  • Building management systems
  • Fire alarm interfacing
  • Remote monitoring installations

Always ensure accessories are compatible with the specific breaker series and manufacturer before installation.
